Two hours across the island where Paris began
You'll wind through Square Jean XXIII, along the Seine and across the Île de la Cité, with your guide bringing the island's history to life before you reach Notre-Dame. At the cathedral you spend around 45 minutes, which you explore independently through the visitor entry with your guide's highlights in hand.
An optional upgrade adds reserved entry to Sainte-Chapelle, the 13th-century chapel whose upper level is a wall of stained glass. Comfortable shoes are essential over the cobblestones, and hotel pickup, transport and food are not included.

Know before you go
- Two hours of the route is on cobblestones. Wear shoes you can walk in; leave the smooth soles at the hotel.
- The interior visit is independent. Ask your guide for the three things to find before you go in.
- Sainte-Chapelle entry is a paid upgrade. Add it at booking — the on-the-day security queue there is the long one.
- Sainte-Chapelle can close at short notice in extreme heat. The admission portion is refunded if it does; keep the afternoon flexible.
- Nothing is included beyond the guiding. Bring water, and plan lunch for after rather than during.

The cathedral was crowded and warm, and guides aren't allowed to narrate inside as it's an active church. But the walk through the portals and the fire story beforehand made the visit far richer than going in cold. Go early.
